Hi All
Just a reminder that our prestigious annual race is just over 4 weeks away, and so far I've had about 14 entries.
If you are new to the Club, then this is a great opportunity to compete against runners of all abilities. The object of the race, is for me to work out times for you all, over a 4 mile course, so that in theory, you should all cross the finish line, at the Recreation Club,at the same time ( it just doesn't happen, no matter how hard I try!). There is also a fancy dress theme( not compulsory), this year it's " Circus"... plenty of scope there.
Afterwards, we retire to the Rec Club, for a drink & meal( we all bring along a contribution for a slap up meal), and presentation/collection of prizes. Each competitor must bring along a prize, value approx. £5, to be placed on a table, and I will subsequently announce the order you finish in, and invite you to chose a prize ... it might be a pleasant surprise, or a jar of marmite, who knows. There will be extra prizes for the winner, and best fancy dress.
It is customary, in the weeks leading up to the race, to comment on how your competitors' training/form is progressing, and how badly yours is... Facebook would be the obvious forum for this, but if you don't have access, I'll gladly do that for you.
If you would like to enter, then please reply to this thread, comment on the TR Facebook thread, or sign your name on the entry form on the Club noticeboard. It does help me if you enter early, so I can have a look at your "form". Entries close one week before the race, but if you do decide to enter later than that, then you can, but you will have to start with the fastest runner( probably Andy Sudlow).
Help would also be appreciated with timing, kitchen, setting up the finish line/funnel etc
If you have any questions, please ask.
regards
Ring master Doc Martin
ps it would help to know what food you intend bringing along... I'm doing a beef bourguignon
